Here are the committees at United Christian Parish with a brief description of each of them.
MEMBERSHIP AND EVANGELISM: Our Lord Jesus Christ has given us the Great Commission: “…go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you…(Mathew 28:19-20). The Membership and Evangelism Committee assists the Pastors serving our UCP church community and the community at large.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: In keeping with the Great Commission, “…go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you…” (Mathew 28:19-20), the Christian Education Committee provides educational opportunities for all ages in our congregation and our community. Christian Education provides for instruction and teaching programs of the church.
OUTREACH AND SOCIAL CONCERNS: Recognizing the redemptive love of Jesus Christ and his Great Commandment “you shall love your neighbor as yourself…” (Matthew 22:39), the Outreach and Social Concerns Committee seeks to educate and challenge our congregation and community in regard to the social concerns of our world. The Outreach and Social Concerns Committee is the service arm of the church.
BUILDING AND GROUNDS: God has called us into partnership in creating and sustaining our world. In the words of the teacher of Proverbs, “…I was beside (God), like a master workman; and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always…” (Proverbs 8:30). The Building and Grounds Committee takes the lead in sustaining our church’s tangible assets. As custodian of the parish’s facilities, the Building and Grounds Committee takes care of our facility and property
WORSHIP: We are called by the Psalmist: “0 come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!” (Psalms 95:6). The Worship Committee guides the preparation of and leadership for our corporate worship.The Worship Committee oversees and provides direction for our worship along with the pastors.
FINANCE: Saint Paul tells us: “…he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (II Corinthians 9:6-7). The Stewardship and Finance Committee oversees the finances of the Parish.
BEQUESTS AND MEMORIALS: Jesus said: “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” (Luke 22:19). We are taught to always remember Jesus’ saving act. The Bequests and Memorials Committee seeks to help us remember the generosity of all the saints who have gone before us. The Bequests and Memorials Committee receives and administers special gifts to the church
PERSONNEL COMMITTEE: “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”(Ephesians 4:1). The Personnel Committee oversees the staff of the church.
PARISH COUNCIL: Overall coordinating board of United Christian Parish.
